Family stuff I can do more often (as a trauma therapist and parent)

Family Stuff I Can Do More Often…* (*… as a trauma therapist and parent)

On a regular basis, we can check in with each other, and grow comfortable with asking each other the following questions:
            Is there anything worrying you?
            Are you stressed about anything?
            What makes your heart sink?
            What makes your heart soar?

We can maintain an awareness of the body-mind connection by doing the following things:
Check in with the rhythm of our heartbeat
Become curious about the pace and depth of our breathing
Scan for any tightness in our body

We can remind each other of basic exercises, such as:
            Progressive Relaxation
            The Four Elements exercise
            The Three Minute Breathing Space
            The Loving Kindness exercise
(These exercises are available on my free resources page.)

We can continuously strive for the eight elements of the Self, namely:
            Curiosity
            Compassion
            Calmness
            Connectedness
            Confidence
            Courage
            Clarity
            Creativity

We can continuously learn how to develop our assertiveness skills, including:
Honoring our emotions (there are no wrong or right emotions)
Being clear about our needs and feelings
Avoiding unnecessary apologies and/or excessive explanations
Learning how to distinguish assertiveness from passivity and/or aggression
