The Art of Doing Nothing

As a psychotherapist practicing in New Jersey and the UK, I see a common epidemic: Productivity Guilt. We have been conditioned to believe that our value is tied to our output. However, from a neurological standpoint, being unproductive is one of the most productive things you can do for your brain
When we stop focusing on external tasks, the brain enters what is known as the Default Mode Network (DMN). This isn't the brain turning off; it’s the brain turning inward. Your brain uses downtime to file away information and make sense of your day.

Have you ever had a "Eureka!" moment in the shower? That’s the DMN at work, connecting dots that your conscious, "productive" mind couldn't see.

True rest isn’t a reward for hard work; it is the biological requirement that makes hard work possible.

Reading stuff online is a great first step. If you would like to explore this more, please get in contact.

I look forward to hearing from you.
