For too long mental health has carried a stigma. If someone struggles with mental health, they are often blamed for the condition, seen as a threat, or belittled and seen as unable to function. It seems strange that mental health should carry a stigma when physical health does not. Is it because mental health is often something unseen? If someone hopped into their workplace on crutches and discussed their broken leg, I doubt they would experience the same sort of stigma as someone who discussed their experiences of depression Have a look at this video produced by Bergen County Department of Health Services.
