Online therapy
Online therapy is psychotherapy carried out via a confidential video portal. Other ways to refer to online therapy include: Telemedicine, distance counseling, teletherapy, or video counseling. Online therapy offers you the benefit of a full psychotherapy session without leaving your home (or your car, if you cannot find a quiet space at home). You should check with your insurance company to confirm whether teletherapy is covered by your specific plan.
The American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association and National Association of Social Workers all recognize online therapy as a valid way to conduct psychotherapy.
